Mother of pearl bridal jewellery

At Princesse d'un Jour I have been working with mother of pearl for more than 20 years, and I fell under the spell of this precious material right from the start. As a craftswoman creating wedding jewellery, I am always looking for unusual materials to bring my pieces to life. Discovering mother of pearl components gave rise to collections of delicate jewellery, perfectly suited to a bride.

Mother of pearl is a luminous material, prized for its beauty since antiquity. This organic material has always fascinated people with the delicate way it catches the light. Used to enrich wooden furniture, to make decorative and religious objects, buttons and jewellery, mother of pearl is a noble and precious material. Its colours range from white to black, by way of shades of pink, green and yellow. Its colour is never perfectly uniform, and its sheen is unique to each piece.

I use pale shades of mother of pearl, such as white and powder pink, to bring my creations to life. Flowers of different shapes and sizes are assembled to reveal light, elegant pieces. Princesse d'un Jour jewellery is designed to sit delicately on the bride without overwhelming her. My Hana and Gardania collections celebrate mother of pearl sakura flowers: inspired by Japan, the sakura flower stands for beauty and renewal. Mother of pearl flowers and butterflies remind us of the beauty of nature, timeless and never tiring. Thanks to its soft, pale colour, mother of pearl goes perfectly with a wedding dress, and its sheen draws the eye with every movement, not with a flashy sparkle but with a captivating glow.

Across my collections, I do my utmost to work these lovely pieces of mother of pearl so as to show them at their best in every creation. I design my collections as complete sets, which is particular to jewellery made for brides. Each of my collections comes as a set including necklaces, bracelets, earrings, back necklaces, back jewellery and matching hair accessories. Because each collection is so complete, the bride can wear her jewellery as a harmonious whole, with the option of wearing the pieces of the set together.

Every year I work with my partner craftspeople to create unique pieces, whether flowers, butterflies, birds or other shapes that will go on to enchant my future creations. Each piece is cut by hand, painstaking work that calls for patience and a rare skill. That craftsmanship makes every mother of pearl flower a unique and valuable piece.

When I make my mother of pearl jewellery I use 925 silver chains and findings, to do justice to the material itself. That is what allows me to create fine, refined bridal jewellery in keeping with my brand.
