Which jewellery goes with a halter neck wedding dress?
The halter neck wedding dress
Today, all eyes on halter neck wedding dresses. First of all, just to refresh our memory, what exactly are we talking about? A halter neck wedding dress is recognisable by the straps of the bodice, which pass behind the neck. The bodice itself can be square, V-shaped or straight, and more rarely sweetheart.
Which jewellery should you choose with this style of dress?
The jewellery you choose obviously has to sit in harmony with the style of your dress. Depending on how wide the straps are, you may or may not be able to wear a bridal necklace. If the straps are fine, you will have far more options. The necklace must not press against your neck alongside the strap and become uncomfortable. So you have three options:
1. A fine necklace
The first option is to choose a necklace that is very fine, especially at the sides. It could be a necklace strung on nylon thread with a small, discreet drop at the centre. It could equally be strung on a wire covered with tiny beads, such as seed beads. The decoration should ideally be concentrated at the centre, leaving the sides free. Here are two examples of necklaces that would suit perfectly:
The Summer necklace is very fine at the sides, as it is a cable covered with seed beads. A beautiful Swarovski crystal flower sits at the heart of the necklace for a discreet effect.
Here, the idea is the same: a fine seed bead neckline with a cluster of pearly beads and crystals at the centre. An elegant necklace that can be paired with a small set of matching earrings for perfect harmony. These necklaces also have the enormous advantage of being easy to wear again after the wedding, with an outfit or a summer dress.
2. A bracelet and earring set
For those of you who would rather not overload the bridal look, the earrings and bracelet option feels obvious. With a halter neck dress, the neck and the sides of the neckline are already dressed. You may well prefer not to add anything more around the neck, so that the dress takes centre stage. That said, a touch of femininity is essential for a bride. If you choose to wear a bracelet and earring set, it is important that the two pieces match one another, to keep a sense of harmony. They should be made of the same materials and, above all, be the same colour. Long or short earrings, a fine or a wide bracelet: whatever style you go for, harmony is what counts.
3. A tiara
Here again, the idea is to leave the neck free and to dress the hair instead. A tiara or headband brings a romantic touch to the bride. You can go for a classic tiara, or an original headband with a flower to one side. In Britain, headbands are especially popular: bands trimmed with pearls and crystals, usually with a flower or an arrangement to one side. Add the small pair of matching earrings and you are done!
Happy choosing!
